The 213 area code is a telephone numbering plan code assigned to the city of Los Angeles and surrounding areas in California, United States.

In 1947, the 213 area code was one of the original area codes established in the North American Numbering Plan. It originally served the entire Los Angeles metropolitan area, but as the population and telephone use grew, it was eventually split into multiple area codes to serve different regions. Today, the 213 area code is used in the downtown Los Angeles area and covers the central business district, including parts of the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills.
