The 310 area code is a telephone numbering plan code serving the West Los Angeles and South Bay areas of Los Angeles County, California, United States, including the cities of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Torrance, and Culver City. The 310 area code was created in 1991 as a split from the 213 area code and was one of the first overlay codes introduced in the North American Numbering Plan. This allowed for the creation of new telephone numbers within the same geographic area, while avoiding the exhaustion of available phone numbers.
